Response To Fiction

"Survivors"

In life you'll run into many different trials and tribulations. Some that may over power others, and some you may feel you just can't handle. In this short story its about two lovers that's obviously are of the same sex and they are dealing with AIDS. Both whom which will die for each other because one don't can't live without the other. The way that the first boy describes his Army father and the way he use discipline to try and make him rethink his sexual preference.
His mother whom were kind but pretty much showed no sorrow, and put blame on her child. Neither parent approved of the way they chose to live their lives, but yet they both had no shame in the love for each other. Being willing to die for someone is a huge decision to make and reading this makes me look at life itself differently. Am I willing to die for someone I truly love? Or die before the one I love so that I don't have to endure the pain?
The story is name "Survivors" and in my opinion we're surviving in every day life. Nothing is easy, nothing will come easy to us. In the story the writer stated "after his lover died, he would put something's away, maybe even let the parrot out of its cage and open the window so it could join the wild ones he'd heard of." That made me think of like new life, being free and just letting go. Letting the bird fly with the other wild ones is like letting your love go without suffering anymore. New life, Heaven.
